- Reinforcing the Jordanian telecommunications sector's commitment to environmental responsibility and its role in supporting national efforts to protect natural resources and address climate change, Jordan's three telecommunications companies (Zain Jordan, Orange Jordan, and Umniah by Beyon) have launched a joint tree-planting initiative in Orange Forest in Jerash Governorate to mark World Nature Conservation Day.
The initiative comes at a time when environmental challenges and the impacts of climate change continue to intensify, making the protection and expansion of Jordan's green cover a national priority. Increasing forested areas plays a vital role in safeguarding natural resources, enhancing quality of life, and strengthening the Kingdom's resilience to future environmental challenges.As part of the initiative, the three telecommunications companies aim to plant more than 2,000 forest trees, recognizing their significant contribution to improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, reducing soil erosion, enhancing water retention, absorbing carbon emissions, and mitigating the effects of climate change. The initiative also reflects the companies' ongoing efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, expand Jordan's green spaces, and promote sustainable environmental practices that encourage the efficient use of natural resources.The initiative serves as a model of effective collaboration within the telecommunications sector and the private sector at large, demonstrating how joint environmental projects can deliver lasting, measurable positive impact. It also reinforces the concept of environmental responsibility as a collaborative effort that supports national priorities, protects the environment, advances sustainable development, promotes volunteerism, and contributes to the growth of the green economy.The event was attended by Fahad Al Jasem, CEO of Zain Jordan; Eng.
